The challenge
The company acquired a book of business that was using a 20+ year-old Quote and Apply system built on a legacy Java/JSP codebase. The monolithic, tightly coupled architecture of the system made enhancements slow, costly, and difficult to scale. Front-end and back-end responsibilities were deeply intertwined, further complicating maintenance.
Before committing to a full rebuild, the organisation needed clarity: Was OutSystems the right platform? What complexity truly lay within the legacy system? And what would modernisation look like in scope, cost, and feasibility?
