The challenge
With over 40,000 members across 19 countries, the organisation needed a mobile app that could perform at scale - reliably, securely, and with a world-class user experience. The existing Android application was falling short on all fronts: slow, costly to maintain, and unable to scale to accommodate a growing membership and expanding range of digital services.
Speed to market was critical, as the app serves as the foundation for a broader suite of member services. Security added another layer of complexity: community data could not be stored on-device, meaning all information had to be delivered in real-time via APIs. Meeting these technical requirements without compromising performance or user experience posed a significant architectural challenge for the team.
