With over 40,000 members across 19 countries, the organisation needed a mobile app that could perform at scale - reliably, securely, and with a world-class user experience. The existing Android application was falling short on all fronts: slow, costly to maintain, and unable to scale to accommodate a growing membership and expanding range of digital services.

Speed to market was critical, as the app serves as the foundation for a broader suite of member services. Security added another layer of complexity: community data could not be stored on-device, meaning all information had to be delivered in real-time via APIs. Meeting these technical requirements without compromising performance or user experience posed a significant architectural challenge for the team.

The solution

Working with PhoenixDX, the organisation made a strategic shift to the OutSystems platform, enabling them to rebuild their existing functionality quickly and safely, while gaining the confidence and flexibility to evolve the app in line with their roadmap and member feedback.

The redesigned application serves as a private directory and central communication channel for the global community. Members can sign in using fingerprint or facial recognition, receive push notifications even when logged out, search for other members using an advanced search engine, and update their profiles at any time. Every aspect of the user interface and experience was carefully reviewed and elevated, while the back-office web application was modernised to improve the management processes that support the community app behind the scenes.

Built in just 4 months, the platform was architected to handle millions of daily transactions, meeting the organisation's demanding security, performance, and scalability requirements from day one.
